The Hangman’s Daughter

The Hangman's Daughter (The Hangman's Daughter, #1)The Hangman’s Daughter by Oliver Pötzsch
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I really have no idea why this took so long to read. It’s not a long book, it doesn’t lack in having a lovable character or decent scenery. It does have the elements it needs to make you WANT to know what is going to happen next. What is it missing?

Perhaps I was missing that feeling of being *connected* to the main characters. There was a bit of a lack in character development. Sure, the hangman himself was a big, burly beast that no one was allowed to look in his eye. But, what about the rest of the family? The title leads me to believe I should connect with Hangman’s daughter. I felt she was just a side character, if not a missing character, throughout most of the book.

I’m not sure that I would delve into additional books from Potzsch. I could only hope, for Oliver;s sake, something was lost in translation and he is well received elsewhere.
